Does Mobileye support Israel?

Founded in Jerusalem in 1999 by Prof. Amnon Shashua and Ziv Aviram and still headquartered there, Mobileye concentrates its R&D and core operations in Israel. Intel bought it for $15.3 billion in 2017 — then the largest acquisition of an Israeli tech company — and remains majority owner after the 2022 Nasdaq re-listing. Its SEC filings show the Israeli anchoring: Israeli corporate tax, shekel hedging with Israeli banks, and continued operations through the 2023-25 war.

Two days after the October 7 attack, Mobileye announced a corporate donation of NIS 5 million (about $1.2 million) to nonprofit organizations helping residents of southern Israel evacuated from their homes near Gaza, saying it was doing everything in its power to assist the war effort and support the home front. Geektime, reporting the same announcement on 9 October 2023, adds that the money was earmarked for organisations finding alternative housing for residents of the combat line, for buying medicines and for replacing missing equipment, and that it was routed to those organisations in cooperation with the Matan association.

During the war the company's operations division visited the damaged homes of employees to secure property and help relocate belongings, and Mobileye offered financial aid for babysitting and for food and equipment deliveries to reservists, their spouses, and spouses of essential workers.

Announced at CES the acquisition of Israeli humanoid-robotics startup Mentee Robotics for $900 million (about $612 million cash plus Mobileye shares); the deal closed on February 3, 2026, keeping Mentee operating from Israel as an independent unit. Mentee was co-founded by Mobileye CEO Amnon Shashua, who recused himself from the board's approval of the transaction.

Founder and CEO Amnon Shashua and his wife Anat — acting personally, not through Mobileye — established a NIS 100 million fund giving NIS 50,000 grants to roughly 2,000 Israeli small businesses hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic, run by their family's House for Social Solidarity project. Listed here as a personal action of Mobileye's founder; it is not a corporate donation.

On 23 March 2020 Mobileye opened a corporate grant fund of about NIS 10 million (about $2.73 million) for Israeli nonprofit organisations struggling in the COVID-19 emergency, calling for applications until 31 March 2020 from bodies whose work supports the Israeli public or economy. The company said the Israeli economy had entered a difficult period in which solidarity and mutual help from everyone able to give was a necessity. Two mako items produced together with Mobileye, one of them the company’s own April 2020 wrap-up, name the programme "Mobileye for the Community", restrict it to nonprofits holding Section 46 tax-deductible status, call it the first programme of its kind at Mobileye, and report that about 2,000 applications arrived within a week and that grants went to roughly 100 organisations chosen with the help of Matan — Investing in the Community.

On 30 September 2024 Mobileye opened a scholarship programme in memory of two of its employees killed in the war: Yevgeny Postel, 25, of the company’s REM mapping department, murdered at the Nova festival at Kibbutz Re’im on 7 October 2023, and Ari Yehiel Zenilman, 32, of its object-detection team, who enlisted as the fighting began and fell in Khan Yunis on 10 December 2023. The company offered up to about 140 scholarships of NIS 14,000 each for the 2024-25 academic year — a stated ceiling of up to NIS 2 million, about $539,000, rather than a confirmed disbursement — to undergraduate and graduate students in engineering, computer science, physics or mathematics at recognised Israeli institutions who had served 60 days or more of reserve duty in the Swords of Iron war. Applications closed on 23 October 2024. Matan — Investing in the Community, which runs the programme, confirms Mobileye’s funding and the 140 scholarships of NIS 14,000 on its own site.
