Does AT&T Inc. support Israel?

AT&T's first acquisition of an Israeli company: bought web, voice and video conferencing provider Interwise for about $121 million in cash (announced 2 October 2007, completed that November), keeping Interwise's R&D center in Israel — the seed of AT&T's ongoing Israeli development presence.

Opened the AT&T Foundry international innovation center in Ra'anana, Israel — the second permanent Foundry facility worldwide, replacing a temporary site running since July 2010 — in collaboration with Israeli-founded Amdocs, to fast-track startup and developer projects into AT&T products. The Foundry program has since ended; AT&T's Israeli development activity continues through its R&D centers (see operations entry).

Selected Israeli networking company DriveNets to supply the Network Cloud routing software for AT&T's next-generation core network (announced autumn 2020). By January 2023 DriveNets software carried more than 52% of core production traffic on AT&T's North American network — a major ongoing commercial relationship with an Israeli vendor.

Operates the AT&T Israel R&D Center — over 500 employees at Airport City, working on 5G network software, cybersecurity, GenAI and FirstNet first-responder systems — and in October 2021 announced a second development center in Tel Aviv with about 100 additional hires focused on cloud technologies. The center, which grew out of the 2007 Interwise acquisition, remains active and recruiting as of 2026.

After 7 October 2023, AT&T ran a six-point wartime support plan for its roughly 500 Israel-based R&D employees: a relief fund for affected employees, an employee donation campaign with a 50% company match, donations by AT&T global leadership to Israeli nonprofits (organizations and amounts undisclosed), care packages for families of employees called up to reserve duty, and employee volunteer projects for displaced children in southern Israel. Acting entities: AT&T management, its leadership personally, and employees — amounts were not disclosed.
