Background

Discord is an independent, privately held company based in San Francisco, and no donation, investment, acquisition, contract, sponsorship or statement of support concerning Israel has been documented at the corporate level. Discord has no office, subsidiary or development centre in Israel, and no Israeli acquisition: its only sizeable purchase, Sentropy Technologies in July 2021, was a Palo Alto company. Its outside shareholders are US, Chinese and Japanese — Tencent, and Sony Interactive Entertainment, which took an undisclosed minority stake in May 2021 alongside the PlayStation integration deal; none of that is an Israel tie, and Sony's separate Israeli chip business belongs to Sony Group, not to Discord. Humam Sakhnini became chief executive in April 2025, arriving from Activision Blizzard; an executive's personal background is not a corporate act in either direction. Claims that Discord 'supports Israel' or 'supports Palestine' rest on how user-created servers and individual moderation decisions are handled under the company's community guidelines, which the company applies as a neutral policy. Content-moderation disputes are never evidence of financial or material support.
