Background

Elbit's inclusion here rests on what it is and whom it supplies — an Israeli company and the Israeli military's leading domestic contractor — documented through its own announcements, SEC filings, and business press. Separately, Elbit is the most prominent corporate target of the BDS movement's military-embargo campaign and of direct-action groups: the UK network Palestine Action was founded in 2020 with Elbit as its primary target and has blockaded, occupied, and damaged Elbit sites in Britain. Four activists were convicted and sentenced in 2026 over a 2024 raid on Elbit's Filton (Bristol) facility that prosecutors said caused about £1 million in damage, and the UK government proscribed Palestine Action under the Terrorism Act in July 2025 — a ban that has since been challenged in court. Announcing the January 2026 munitions order, president and CEO Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis said Elbit's precision munitions had proven themselves in the field and contributed significantly to Israel's air superiority across multiple theatres, and that the company remains committed to strengthening Israel's domestic production infrastructure as part of its partnership with the Ministry of Defense and the IDF, and out of responsibility for the nation's needs and 'the preservation of its security'. In the letter opening Elbit's 2023 ESG report he wrote that the company's contribution to the war effort had strengthened its recognition that the security of the State of Israel is intertwined with the actions of Elbit Systems.
