Does Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. support Israel?

Teva is an Israeli company by origin and identity: founded in Jerusalem in 1901 as the S.L.E. wholesale drug business, traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange since 1951 (NYSE since 2012), and headquartered in Israel — long in Petah Tikva, today at 124 Dvora HaNevi'a St., Tel Aviv per its SEC filings. It was for years Israel's largest and most valuable company (only surpassed in market value by Elbit Systems in 2026) and remains one of its major employers, with roughly 3,400 employees across four Israeli production and logistics sites; Israel accounts for about 8% of its global production.

Days after the October 7 attacks, Teva issued an official statement titled "Standing with Israel," saying through spokesperson Kelley Dougherty: "We are deeply saddened by the unprecedented, horrific, and brutal attacks on Israeli civilians... As an Israeli company we condemn this appalling assault and Teva stands with Israel in this time of great loss and challenge."

In the war's first weeks, Teva's Israel operation said it donated essential medicines, baby-food compounds, and computers in collaboration with Israeli charities, describing the company as "harnessed for the benefit of Israel, the wounded and the families of the evacuees and the security forces" (Teva Israel general manager, quoted in Israeli media). Headquarters staff mobilized to Teva's Shoham distribution center to handle a threefold spike in medicine demand.

Teva funded a trauma-support program launched in response to October 7 ("Support the Soul") to train and certify therapists treating trauma and PTSD in Israel — about 200 therapists certified by February 2024 — including support for therapists treating soldiers, with CEO Richard Francis citing estimates that more than 2 million Israelis could suffer trauma symptoms.

Teva employees — distinct from the corporation — in the US, Germany, and Spain donated hundreds of refurbished laptops shipped to Israel, about half to the Israeli Trauma Coalition and the rest to displaced families via the Mathashim association. Employees at Teva's five Israeli sites also collected equipment for IDF soldiers through on-site collection points (about 1.5 tons donated by end of October 2023, in collaboration with the Pitchon-Lev charity, per Israeli media reports).
