Background

Delek Group is an Israeli holding company, so its link to Israel is structural rather than philanthropic. The documented substance is energy: through its 54.7%-held subsidiary NewMed Energy it is the largest partner in Leviathan, the offshore field that supplies most of Israel's electricity generation and its gas exports, and in August 2025 that partnership signed an approximately $35 billion supply agreement with Egypt running to 2040. The same field appears on our Chevron page from the operator's side, and BP's 2023 Israeli exploration licence, recorded on our BP page, was won in a consortium alongside NewMed; BP and ADNOC's 2023 offer of about $2 billion for 50% of NewMed was suspended in March 2024 and never completed. Two attribution points matter. First, Delek Group is not Delek Israel: the fuel-station and Menta convenience business was sold to Lahav LR Real Estate and Uri Mantzur in a deal agreed in October 2020 and completed in January 2021, and it was that separate company — not Delek Group — that later took majority ownership of the Burger King Israel franchise whose soldier meal donations are recorded on our Restaurant Brands page. Second, Delek Group itself is listed as entry 45 in the UN OHCHR settlement-business database. We found no documented wartime donation, in-kind aid or army-unit adoption by Delek Group after October 2023.

Operations in Israel2026Israel (natural gas production through NewMed Energy) and international energy assets
Delek Group is an Israeli holding company listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and controlled by businessman Yitzhak Tshuva. Its holdings include 54.7% of NewMed Energy (TASE: NMED), 50% of Ithaca Energy (LSE), 40% of Isracard, 61% of Mehadrin and 32% of InPlay Oil. NewMed Energy — founded in 1993 as Delek Drilling — holds 45.34% of the Leviathan reservoir off Israel's coast, alongside Chevron (39.66%, the operator) and Ratio (15%), which makes Delek Group the Israeli partner in the field that supplies most of Israel's power generation and its gas exports to Egypt and Jordan. This entry records the corporate structure; it is not a donation.
Government contract2025-08-07$35,000,000,000Egypt (gas buyers) — export from the Leviathan field, in which Delek Group's NewMed Energy is the largest partner
The Leviathan partners — NewMed Energy (45.34%), Chevron (39.66%, operator) and Ratio (15%) — signed an agreement to supply natural gas to Egypt through 2040 with a headline value of about $35 billion, reported as the largest export agreement in Israel's history. The deal is a commercial gas-supply contract signed during the war years by a partnership in which Delek Group's subsidiary holds the largest share; it is an Israeli energy export, not a donation. It is the same field and partnership recorded on our Chevron page.
Operations in Israel2025-09-26Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem
The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights lists "Delek Group Ltd." as entry 45 in its database of business enterprises involved in activities linked to Israeli settlements (A/HRC/60/19, 26 September 2025, 158 enterprises). The activities recorded against it are (e) the provision of services and utilities supporting the maintenance and existence of settlements and (g) the use of natural resources, in particular water and land, for business purposes. This is a UN finding of "reasonable grounds to believe," recorded here with its primary source; it is not a court judgment. The listing names the holding company; separate entries in the same database cover other fuel retailers such as Dor Alon Energy in Israel (entry 48).
Acquisition2020-10-21Lahav LR Real Estate and businessman Uri Mantzur (buyers of 70% of Delek Israel)
Delek Group agreed on 21 October 2020 to sell 70% of Delek Israel — its downstream fuel-station and Menta convenience-store business — to Lahav LR Real Estate and Uri Mantzur for about NIS 525 million, valuing the unit at roughly NIS 750 million; the transaction completed in January 2021. This matters for attribution: Delek Israel, which in January 2022 bought a majority of the Burger King Israel franchise, is a separate company that has not been controlled by Delek Group since that sale. Actions by Delek Israel or by Burger King Israel are not attributable to Delek Group, and vice versa.
