Does Marriott support Israel?
Marriott International, Inc.
Yes — Marriott has documented support for Israel on record. Every claim below links to its source.
Filed under: Hotels & travel companies · Companies that support Israel
Background
Two things complicate the claim above. Marriott owns and operates almost none of its roughly 9,200 hotels directly — more than 99% are franchised or professionally managed, per Marriott's own FY2024 10-K — and its Israel-flagged properties (Sheraton Grand Tel Aviv, Renaissance Tel Aviv, The Jaffa — owned by RFR Holding — and The Ritz-Carlton Herzliya, plus two Isrotel soft-brand hotels) are run by local operators such as RFR Holding and Isrotel under management or franchise-style licensing agreements, so any hotel-level action described above would be an operator's, not Marriott corporate's. Separately, Israel's Tourism Ministry ran a nationwide, government-funded emergency hotel-housing programme after October 7, 2023 that most Israeli hotel chains joined — hotels were paid by the state (with early payment delays reported), not simply donating rooms — which the 'at no cost' framing above does not address. Marriott's own public comment on the war was limited to CEO Anthony Capuano telling investors in an earnings call that the company remained committed to the Middle East and that the conflict had not materially affected results; no Marriott statement addressing Israeli evacuees specifically was found.

Documented support
| Type | Date | Amount | Recipient | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| In-kind support | 2023-10 | — | Displaced Israeli families and employees, per JLens' account (specific hotel and operator not identified) According to JLens Impact Investing Network — a pro-Israel institutional-investor advocacy network, not an independent news outlet — Marriott properties in Israel provided lodging and meals at no cost to over 400 displaced Israeli families, offered complimentary stays to affected employees, distributed support through the Marriott Disaster Relief Fund, and set up HR hotlines. This is JLens' own characterization: Marriott issued no public statement confirming it, and no independent outlet was found reporting it. See context for why the claim should be read cautiously. | One source |
