Medtronic is an Irish-domiciled, Minneapolis-run medical-device maker whose Israeli footprint was built almost entirely by acquisition — Ventor (2009), Oridion (2012), Given Imaging (inherited through the Covidien deal) and Mazor Robotics (2018). Entity precision matters for the Given Imaging deal: Covidien bought Given Imaging in February 2014 and Medtronic bought Covidien in January 2015, so Medtronic is the successor owner rather than the original acquirer. Under Project 6 — Medtronic's global volunteering month, named for the sixth point of the company's mission, which asks employees worldwide to practise good citizenship in their communities — more than 60 employees from Medtronic's Herzliya site volunteered in June 2023 at the "A.B. Shikum" hostel in Netanya, a residence for adults aged 30 to 60 with mental frailty: they turned the entrance floor into a café for the residents and repainted and landscaped the building's exterior and the residents' own rooms. This is company-organised employee volunteering, not a cash donation, and it is the Israeli leg of a programme Medtronic runs at its sites worldwide. Medtronic's Israeli arm, Medtronic Israel, "adopted" Kibbutz Sa'ad on the Gaza border — home to one of its employees — after its residents were evacuated to a Dead Sea hotel: it donated equipment for a children's play room at the hotel and built benches and seating areas for the teenagers, and its staff packed parcels for the evacuated families. The same report lists further employee volunteering: packing food for southern residents who could not leave, sorting equipment for displaced families, donating computers, supplying equipment to evacuees, blood drives, and parcels for the wounded in hospitals. Arik Korkos, general manager of Medtronic Israel, called it "a human duty" and said the company was acting in Israel and abroad "to support the hospitals, the fighting forces and the evacuees" — the report gives no figures, and no detail of what the support to the forces consisted of.
