noon.com is the Gulf's largest home-grown e-commerce platform, announced in 2016 and launched in 2017 with $1 billion of initial capital split equally between Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and Emirati businessman Mohamed Alabbar, who founded it and remains its chairman; PIF holds about 50% and Alabbar and associated entities the rest, and both put in a further $500 million in 2022. It serves the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and also runs noon Food, noon Minutes grocery delivery and the fashion platform Namshi. No recorded donations, investments, contracts, sponsorships or statements in support of Israel were found for noon.com as a company. It does not operate in, ship to, or source from Israel, and no Israeli subsidiary, partner or counterparty appears in its public announcements. The claim that circulates most widely about noon — repeated on boycott sites, TikTok and Quora — is not about the company at all but about its founder, and the distinction is the whole point. Mohamed Alabbar has a personal record of contacts with Israel: he travelled to Tel Aviv in 2005 and met Shimon Peres about buying structures from the evacuated Gaza settlements, saying afterwards that the aim was to benefit Palestinians and reaffirming the UAE's position against normalisation without peace; the Israeli business daily Calcalist reported in August 2021 that since 2018 he had been one of five anonymous funders of an Israeli national food-security programme; and in June 2023 he spoke at Sheba Medical Center's 75th-anniversary gala, where he was described as having helped connect the hospital to Gulf medical institutions. Those are acts by an individual, and Alabbar has publicly said he is 'not interested in business' with Israel. No noon.com decision, payment, contract or statement has been tied to them, and PIF — the platform's other half-owner — has no Israel-related dealing on record either. The same attribution is applied on this site to Americana Restaurants, which Alabbar also chairs. noon is privately held and files with no US regulator, so the absence recorded here rests on news and official-announcement review rather than on US filings.
