Retail is where the boycott question gets asked most and answered worst, because a product on a shelf is not a corporate act. The documented records here are narrower and more specific: Walmart's foundation gave $1 million to Magen David Adom after October 7 and the company bought Israeli virtual-fitting startup Zeekit for a reported $200 million; Carrefour entered Israel in 2023 through a franchise with Electra Consumer Products; Lidl's parent Schwarz Group acquired Israeli cybersecurity firm XM Cyber for about $700 million; Tesco and ALDI ran pilots with Israeli checkout-technology company Trigo. Israel's own chains — Shufersal and Rami Levy — carry their wartime donation records directly. Costco, Target, Kroger and others were researched and produced no records at all, and their pages say exactly that.

Does selling Israeli products mean a supermarket supports Israel?
No, and we do not record it as support. Stocking imported produce or a brand is a purchasing decision, not a donation, investment or statement. It is why Costco, Sprouts, Sainsbury's and others appear here with no records despite carrying Israeli goods. Is Carrefour in Israel the same company as Carrefour in the Gulf?
No — and this is the most misunderstood point in the category. Carrefour's Israeli stores are operated under franchise by Electra Consumer Products, while its Gulf and wider Middle East stores are operated by Majid Al Futtaim, a separate Dubai company that has no Israeli operations.
