Rafael is not a foreign company that chose to support Israel — it is wholly owned by the State of Israel and its core business is arming the Israeli military, so the evidence here documents identity, programmes and contracts rather than philanthropy. On the two systems most often attributed to it, the record is clear and comes from the Israel Ministry of Defense itself: Rafael is the prime contractor for Iron Dome, working with IAI's ELTA Systems division on the radar and mPrest on battle management, and Rafael is the maker of the Trophy active-protection system, which the company says is the world's only operational active protection system and is now fitted on 16 platforms worldwide, including Germany's Leopard tank. Rafael also builds David's Sling, the Spike missile family and the Iron Beam laser system. Its dividend policy sends half its profits back to its owner, the Israeli state.
