Does SAP support Israel?

SAP has operated R&D centers in Israel since 1998; SAP Labs Israel employs roughly 1,000 people across Ra'anana and Tel Aviv working on the SAP Business Technology Platform, deep learning and computer vision. In 2017 SAP moved into a new NIS 240 million (~$67 million) Israeli headquarters building in Ra'anana.

Acquired Israeli enterprise-portal company TopTier Software, founded by Shai Agassi, for about $400 million — SAP's first major Israeli acquisition. Agassi went on to head a new SAP subsidiary and later joined SAP's executive board.

Acquired Israeli customer identity and access management company Gigya for $350 million in cash; Gigya's roughly 100-person Tel Aviv operation was folded into SAP's Hybris customer-engagement unit and later into SAP's Israeli R&D center.

Completed the acquisition of Tel Aviv-based digital adoption platform company WalkMe for about $1.5 billion in cash ($14.00 per share), announced June 2024 and closed 12 September 2024 — one of the largest-ever purchases of an Israeli software company.

SAP was among 106 German companies that signed a full-page 'Never again is now' advertisement in German Sunday newspapers condemning Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel and speaking out against antisemitism.

After October 7, SAP donated €250,000 — given in Israeli coverage as about NIS 1 million, and about $264,400 — to Israel's Magen David Adom emergency medical service. Hebrew coverage on 25 October 2023 and Globes on 1 November 2023 both attribute the €250,000 to Magen David Adom alone; the Times of Israel report of 1 November 2023 instead describes the €250,000 as covering both Magen David Adom and the Alon and Ella Association.

Separately from its donation to Magen David Adom, SAP made an additional donation, of an undisclosed amount, to the Alon and Ella Association, which provides for the immediate needs of families from Gaza-border communities. Neither the Hebrew report of 25 October 2023 nor Globes on 1 November 2023 puts a figure on this second gift.

In the first days of the war SAP's Israeli development teams built a dedicated platform that mapped needs and coordinated volunteering and civilian initiatives; through it employees collected and donated equipment and clothing, cooked meals and delivered them to soldiers and army bases, and volunteered with the Yad Sarah association and with wounded people and their families in hospitals. This is the work of SAP Labs Israel's staff, not a headquarters cash donation, and the two reports of it — ice in Hebrew and Globes — both rest on SAP's own account.

SAP announced wartime cash grants to Israeli employees: NIS 6,500 (~$1,619) per family member for employees evacuated from communities near the Gaza Strip or Lebanese border, and NIS 2,600 per family member for non-evacuated employees living within 40 km of the Gaza border.

SAP Israel together with the SAP workers' union purchased agricultural produce worth hundreds of thousands of shekels directly from farmers in Gaza-border communities and donated it to aid associations and NGOs assisting evacuees, as well as to IDF soldiers. Attributed to SAP's Israeli unit and its employee union, not a headquarters cash donation.
