Background

Talabat is a food, grocery and retail delivery platform founded in Kuwait in 2004 and headquartered in Dubai. It was acquired by the German group Delivery Hero SE in 2015, and on 10 December 2024 Delivery Hero floated a stake of about 20% of Talabat Holding plc on the Dubai Financial Market, keeping a clear majority and half the board seats; the offering raised roughly $2 billion. Talabat operates in eight markets — the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq — and in none of them, nor anywhere else, does it operate in Israel. No recorded donations, investments, contracts, sponsorships or statements in support of Israel were found for Talabat or for its parent Delivery Hero. Three points need precise attribution. First, Delivery Hero has no Israeli subsidiary, market or joint venture; the Israeli food-delivery company 10bis, often mixed up with Delivery Hero's portfolio in online lists, was bought in 2018 for €135 million by the Dutch group Takeaway.com — a different company, now part of Just Eat Takeaway. Second, boycott campaigns after October 2023 targeted Talabat over restaurant brands available on its app — McDonald's, KFC, Pizza Hut, Starbucks and others — but a delivery platform listing a restaurant is a marketplace relationship, not ownership of that brand or a position on its politics, and no removal, refusal or statement by Talabat about Israel is on record. Third, on 16 July 2026 Uber announced a €41.50-per-share cash offer valuing Delivery Hero at about $14.8 billion, with talabat named among the brands it would acquire and completion expected in the second half of 2027. That deal is pending regulatory and shareholder approval: Uber does not own Delivery Hero or Talabat today, and Uber's own documented Israel-linked action — a September 2025 equity investment in the Israeli drone-delivery startup Flytrex — is recorded on Uber's page, not attributed to Talabat here. Talabat reports to the Dubai Financial Market and the UAE Securities and Commodities Authority rather than to US regulators, so the absence recorded here rests on its disclosures, Gulf and German financial press and news review rather than on US filings.
