ALDI Nord and ALDI SÜD are two independent, family-owned German retail groups with no stores in Israel. Since at least 2009, recurring social-media rumors have claimed ALDI (and Lidl) donate revenue or half their profits to Israel; no evidence exists, and ALDI SÜD has explicitly denied the claim as 'absolutely untrue and pure invention,' citing its principle of not engaging politically or religiously. In 2013, ALDI Nord's Dutch branch told suppliers it would not accept products from West Bank settlements, then walked the policy back, stating it does not boycott products from the territories. The only documented Israel tie is ALDI Nord's commercial pilot with Israeli checkout-free startup Trigo in Utrecht (2022–2024), which ended in September 2024.
