Does Robert Bosch GmbH support Israel?

Bosch established a research and technology office in Tel Aviv to work with Israeli universities and identify local startups in machine learning, robotics, cybersecurity, connectivity and IoT. CEO Volkmar Denner called Israel "just the right environment for groundbreaking innovations, and thus for Bosch as well."

Bosch ran AI, sensor and automation research offices in Tel Aviv and Haifa (about 30 people at peak) under the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence from 2018. Ended: Bosch closed both Israeli research sites by the end of June 2026 as part of a global restructuring, citing economic and strategic rather than political reasons; it keeps a commercial presence in Israel through subsidiaries and distributors including BSH, Elmo Motion Control and Bosch Ventures.

Bosch subsidiary Bosch Rexroth signed an agreement on 4 September 2022 to acquire Israeli servo-drive and motion-control maker Elmo Motion Control (about 330 employees, HQ in Petah Tikva) for a reported ~$700 million, folding its products into the ctrlX AUTOMATION platform. Amount is as reported by Israeli business press; Bosch did not officially disclose the price.

Robert Bosch Venture Capital (now Bosch Ventures), which runs a Tel Aviv branch as one of its investment hubs, has repeatedly backed Israeli startups: it co-led SiteAware's $10 million Series A in October 2020 (round total, co-led with Axon Ventures) and joined the $5 million seed round of Israeli IoT-AI startup Veego in 2019. Investments are by Bosch's corporate VC arm, not direct donations.
