Does Comcast Corporation support Israel?

As part of a $2 million humanitarian commitment announced six days after the October 7 Hamas attack, Comcast Corporation (parent of NBCUniversal) immediately donated $1.5 million split among Save the Children Federation, Doctors Without Borders, Direct Relief, and American Friends of Magen David Adom for relief in Israel and the region. One recipient (American Friends of Magen David Adom) funds Israel's national emergency medical service; the other three are neutral humanitarian organizations.

Committed up to $500,000 in corporate matching funds for employee donations to the same four relief organizations, on top of the company's existing Matching Gift Program — completing the $2 million total commitment.

Chairman & CEO Brian L. Roberts and President Mike Cavanagh said in the company's announcement: "We are horrified and deeply saddened by the brutal attack on Israel. Our hearts go out to the families who have lost their loved ones through unspeakable acts of terrorism and the devastation of war." NBC News also aired primetime specials on the attacks and Xfinity curated a news destination for customers.

Comcast Ventures, the corporate venture arm of Comcast Corporation, participated in Israeli AI startup AI21 Labs' Series C round — a $53 million extension announced in November 2023, during the war, bringing the round to $208 million at a $1.4 billion valuation (Comcast's individual share undisclosed). Comcast's investment arm has also backed other Israeli startups including BigID, K Health, and Juganu.
