Listerine's ownership history has to be stated precisely, because almost every claim attached to the brand actually belongs to companies that no longer own it. Listerine was a Pfizer consumer-health brand until Johnson & Johnson bought Pfizer's consumer healthcare division for $16.6 billion, a deal that closed on 20 December 2006. It then sat inside J&J until 2023, when J&J separated its consumer-health business as Kenvue: Kenvue listed on the New York Stock Exchange in May 2023 and became fully independent in August 2023. Listerine went with Kenvue.
