Background

Milo is Nestlé's malted chocolate drink brand, created in Australia in 1934 and sold today mainly in Asia, Oceania, Africa and Latin America. Nothing done by the Milo brand in or for Israel has been documented — no donation, in-kind aid, sponsorship, investment, statement or political activity — and Milo is not part of Nestlé's Israeli portfolio: the brand does not appear in the brand grid of Osem-Nestlé, Nestlé's wholly-owned Israeli subsidiary, nor among the brands Nestlé Professional Israel supplies to Israeli foodservice, and Nestlé's Israeli chocolate-drink and cocoa products are sold under local Osem-Nestlé brands rather than Milo. Tins found in Israel are grey-market imports of Malaysian or Australian production sold through third-party online sellers, not a Nestlé Israel line. The Israel link that boycott lists rely on is therefore entirely at parent level: Nestlé began investing in Osem and took exclusive Israeli distribution rights in 1995 and has owned Osem outright since February 2016, and — as recorded on the Nestlé page — Osem-Nestlé, the Israeli subsidiary rather than the Swiss parent, sent food and water to IDF soldiers and rescue forces in the first days of the October 2023 war, delivered products to the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel's Soldiers and supplied residents of Sderot. Nestlé S.A. itself issued no statement of support and temporarily shut an Israeli plant in October 2023 as a safety precaution. Neither Milo nor Nestlé appears on the BDS movement's official targeted-boycott list, and Logically Facts' November 2023 review of a viral 45-brand 'Israeli products' list found that none of the Nestlé brands named originate in Israel.
