Background

Nikon is a Japanese optics and imaging manufacturer with no subsidiary, plant or research centre of its own in Israel. On Nikon's official global network page the Israeli market is served by two independent parties: Photo Studio Nissim Ltd., listed as the distributor for cameras, lenses and sport optics and operator of the Hebrew-language nikon.co.il site, and the eyewear joint venture Nikon-Essilor for ophthalmic lenses. Appointing a local distributor is ordinary international commerce, not support for a state or a cause. No Israeli acquisition, investment, R&D site, donation, aid shipment or political statement by Nikon Corporation was found in this research pass; unlike some of its camera-industry peers, Nikon has bought no Israeli technology company.
