Background

In October 2023, calls to boycott Paramount circulated in Arabic-language media and on social platforms around a figure of "$3 million donated to Israel." That figure belongs to two companies rather than one: the Egyptian daily El Watan, reporting the boycott calls, wrote that Disney gave $2 million to civil-society organisations in Israel and Paramount $1 million. Paramount's own share of it is the $1 million recorded above.

Public statement2025-09-12——
Paramount publicly rejected a pledge — organised by the group Film Workers for Palestine and signed by about 4,000 actors, directors and film workers — not to work with Israeli film institutions. In a statement issued through chief communications officer Melissa Zukerman on September 12, 2025, the company said: "We do not agree with recent efforts to boycott Israeli filmmakers. Silencing individual creative artists based on their nationality does not promote better understanding or advance the cause of peace," adding that the global entertainment industry needs "more engagement and communication — not less." Paramount was the first major Hollywood studio to speak against the pledge. Film Workers for Palestine answered that the pledge targets Israeli institutions it considers complicit, not individuals on the basis of their nationality. This is a public statement by the company; no money or other material support is attached to it.
Government contract2025-09-22—Keshet 12 / Keshet International (Israeli broadcaster and its distribution arm)
Paramount bought the international rights to "Red Alert" (Hebrew title "אור ראשון", First Light), a four-part Keshet 12 drama built on the accounts of Israeli civilians and first responders during the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023. The sale was made by Keshet International and announced on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, September 22, 2025; all four episodes were released worldwide on Paramount+ on October 7, 2025, and Keshet 12 broadcast the premiere in Israel in early October. No financial terms were disclosed. Paramount chairman and chief executive David Ellison, quoted in the announcement, called it an important series that documents the attack. This is a commercial content-licensing deal with an Israeli broadcaster, not a donation or a grant.
