Of the storage companies, SanDisk has by far the deepest Israeli footprint, and it is an engineering one. It dates to the November 2006 purchase of msystems Ltd. of Kfar Saba for roughly $1.4 billion in stock, which turned SanDisk into one of the largest employers of flash-memory engineers in Israel. Ownership then changed twice: Western Digital bought SanDisk in May 2016, and spun it back out as the independent Sandisk Corporation on 21 February 2025, with the Israeli sites staying with the SanDisk business throughout. Today Sandisk's own annual report lists R&D campuses at Kfar Saba, Tefen and Omer. What this research did not find is any SanDisk donation, in-kind aid, public statement of support or political contribution connected to Israel — the documented relationship is investment, acquisition and payroll rather than philanthropy.
