Background

Twitch is a livestreaming subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., and no donation, investment, acquisition, contract, sponsorship or statement of support concerning Israel has been documented at the Twitch brand level. Twitch has no office or engineering site in Israel. Its parent's Israel actions are substantial but belong to Amazon and are covered on the Amazon.com page: the Project Nimbus cloud contract with the Israeli government, the $7.2 billion AWS Israel (Tel Aviv) region, the Annapurna Labs acquisition, a $300,000 COVID-era donation to the Israel Healthcare Foundation, and CEO Andy Jassy's October 2023 statement. None of those is a Twitch action. What Twitch itself is known for in this context is content moderation and account enforcement: after 7 October 2023 it disabled email-verified sign-ups in both Israel and Palestine, saying the step was meant to stop uploads of graphic material, then left it in place for about a year until users noticed in October 2024, when the company said it 'deeply regretted this unacceptable miss.' Israeli outlets described the effect as a de facto registration ban on Israelis; separately, Twitch faced advertiser pullbacks and antisemitism allegations over streamer conduct, and pro-Palestinian streamers reported bans. Money raised by streamers for causes on either side is donated by those creators and their viewers, not by Twitch. Moderation disputes and streamer controversies are not evidence of corporate support in either direction.
