Background

WalkMe is not a foreign brand accused of taking sides — it is an Israeli company, founded in Tel Aviv in 2011 and incorporated under Israeli law, whose digital adoption platform is used by large enterprises worldwide. That fact alone is why it turns up on consumer boycott directories, which list it simply as 'an Israeli company' with no allegation of a specific donation or contract. What the record actually shows for the war that began on 7 October 2023 is inward-facing: the CEO's public message to customers two days after the attack, published on WalkMe's own blog; roughly a tenth of the Israeli workforce called to reserve duty; a company-run channel to get equipment to those employees; temporary housing, mental-health support and volunteering time for staff; and, in the HR chief's words, donations made and collected globally to equip WalkMe employees serving in the army, plus employee-organised giving of money and supplies to victims. No sums were disclosed and no gift to the Israeli government, the military as an institution, or a named charity has been documented in searches of news in English and Hebrew, SEC filings, US nonprofit records and federal campaign-finance data. Since 12 September 2024 WalkMe has been a wholly owned subsidiary of the German software group SAP, bought for about $1.5 billion; everything above happened while it was independent, and SAP's own Israel-related record — including its post-October-7 donation to Magen David Adom and its wartime grants to Israeli employees — belongs on SAP's page, not this one.

Operations in Israel2011-10State of Israel (Tel Aviv headquarters, Israeli employment and corporate registration)
WalkMe is an Israeli company in the fullest legal sense. Its own SEC annual report states that it was founded in October 2011 under the name Make Tutorial Ltd., changed its legal name to WalkMe Ltd. in March 2012, and is 'a company limited by shares organized under and subject to the laws of the State of Israel,' registered with the Israeli Registrar of Companies under number 51-4682269, with principal executive offices at 1 Walter Moses St., Tel Aviv. Its co-founders include chief executive Dan Adika and president Rephael (Rafael) Sweary. The Tel Aviv headquarters occupies about 40,000 square feet; the company also holds a US headquarters in San Francisco of similar size and leased offices in Raleigh, London, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney and Singapore. WalkMe reported approximately 1,000 full-time employees as of 31 December 2023, and its VP of HR said in October 2023 that around 35% of them were based in Israel. Attribution note: this is ordinary Israeli business activity — incorporation, headquarters, employment and taxes — and is not a donation to any cause.
Operations in Israel2021-06-16Israeli technology sector (Nasdaq listing of a Tel Aviv-headquartered company)
WalkMe listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol WKME on 16 June 2021, pricing 9.25 million shares at $31 each and raising about $287 million at a valuation of roughly $2.5 billion — part of a record run of Israeli offerings on Wall Street that month. The company filed with the SEC as an Israeli foreign private issuer and kept its incorporation, headquarters and largest single concentration of staff in Tel Aviv for the whole of its listed life. Attribution note: an IPO raises capital for the company from investors; it is not a payment or donation by WalkMe to Israel.
Public statement2023-10-09Not applicable — public message by co-founder and CEO Dan Adika, published on WalkMe's corporate blog
Two days after the 7 October 2023 attack, WalkMe co-founder and CEO Dan Adika sent a message to all customers and published it on the company blog under the title 'WalkMe's unwavering commitment to you' (dated 9 October 2023, updated 19 October 2023). He wrote of the 'recent heart-wrenching atrocities and the immense suffering' and said his heart was 'torn to pieces from the tragic stories coming in every single hour,' while assuring customers that business continuity was 'of paramount importance,' that support was operating 24/7 and that the company's cloud infrastructure sits on US and EMEA servers. He also credited WalkMe staff with 'incredible generosity' in donating to families in need and volunteering. Attribution note: this is a statement by the chief executive speaking for the company, published by the company itself, not a donation.
In-kind support2023-10WalkMe employees serving in the Israel Defense Forces (equipment); families and victims of the 7 October attack (money and supplies)
In an interview published by Calcalist's CTech on 25 October 2023, WalkMe VP of HR Sharon Bernstein said the company 'donated and collected donations globally to help with equipment for our employees in the army,' and described employees who had not been called up 'creating opportunities for WalkMe and its employees to donate money and supplies to the victims.' Attribution note: the account mixes two distinct things and the company gave no figures — a corporate contribution by WalkMe alongside donations collected from its employees worldwide, aimed at equipping WalkMe's own staff serving as IDF reservists rather than at the Israeli military as an institution. No amount was disclosed, so none is recorded here.
Employee support2023-10WalkMe employees in Israel, including reservists and evacuees
WalkMe told Calcalist's CTech on 25 October 2023 that roughly 10% of its Israeli headcount was in reserve duty and that further employees had spouses called up. The company opened a Tel Aviv WhatsApp group whose main purpose was to coordinate equipment deliveries to its employees and their friends in the army and to citizens who had lost relatives and homes; helped employees find temporary housing until their own homes were safe; provided all employees with a mental-health service and a contact brochure; had HR check in with employees and their spouses; set up a memory corner in the office; allowed foreign-passport employees who asked to work from abroad; and re-prioritised less urgent projects so staff could volunteer. Attribution note: these are workplace measures for WalkMe's own staff, not donations to an outside organisation.
Acquisition2024-09-12$1,500,000,000SAP SE (buyer) — WalkMe Ltd. shareholders (sellers)
WalkMe ceased to be an independent Israeli public company when SAP SE bought it. WalkMe entered into the merger agreement with SAP and its Israeli subsidiary Hummingbird Acquisition Corp Ltd. on 4 June 2024, and the merger was consummated under the Israeli Companies Law on 12 September 2024, each ordinary share converting into the right to receive $14.00 in cash — an equity value of about $1.5 billion and roughly a 45% premium to the 4 June closing price. Nasdaq trading was suspended the same day and WalkMe deregistered from the SEC shortly afterwards. Attribution note: WalkMe is now a wholly owned SAP subsidiary that still operates from Tel Aviv; every decision recorded above predates the deal and was that of an independent Israeli company, not of SAP. SAP's own Israel record is documented separately on its page.
