Does 3M Company support Israel?

3M has operated in Israel since 1996 through its wholly owned subsidiary 3M Israel Ltd, headquartered in Herzliya, which imports and markets 3M's full commercial range across its healthcare, safety and industrial, transportation and electronics, and consumer segments. In October 2014 the company announced plans for an R&D presence in Israel, and in December 2015 it opened a Customer Innovation Center at the Herzliya offices — one of about fifty worldwide — with then-CEO Inge Thulin among the executives publicly framing Israel as an innovation partner.

3M acquired Attenti Holdings — the Tel Aviv-based electronic people-monitoring company formerly known as Dmatek, whose ankle-bracelet systems are used for offender monitoring and eldercare — for $230 million in cash from an investor group led by Francisco Partners (announced August 31, 2010, closed in Q4 2010). Ended: 3M sold the electronic monitoring business back to funds advised by Apax Partners for about $200 million in 2017, and it again operates independently as Attenti.

3M's corporate venture arm, 3M New Ventures, made an equity investment — reported in the Israeli press at several million dollars, terms undisclosed — in VocalZoom, an Israeli developer of speech-enhancement sensor technology, alongside a collaboration to develop voice-enabled user interfaces.

3M New Ventures purchased a minority stake, for an undisclosed sum, in TaKaDu, an Israeli cloud-analytics company that detects leaks and faults in water networks — 3M's second investment in an Israel-based company in under a year.
