Background
Pantene is the one Procter & Gamble brand with documented, brand-level philanthropy inside Israel. Its long-running partnership with Zichron Menachem — a Jerusalem-based charity for children with cancer and their families — is a civilian, medical-support programme: hair donations turned into free real-hair wigs, funded advertising, a mobile salon, and a $100,000 grant in 2018 that built a wig-manufacturing workshop in Israel. It is not aid to the Israeli military, government or any political cause, and the distinction matters. Separately, everything else attached to Pantene in boycott posts belongs to the parent: P&G runs the subsidiary P&G Israel M.D.O. Ltd. and, since 2007, the "Israel House of Innovation" open-innovation hub set up with Israel's Office of the Chief Scientist. P&G issued no corporate statement on the war after October 7, 2023 — its CFO called the attack and the war that followed a "human tragedy" — and no Pantene donation to Israeli military or relief-for-war causes was found; the Zichron Menachem campaign simply continued through the war years, including the December 2023 and December 2024 rounds. Neither Pantene nor P&G appears on the BDS movement's official boycott target lists.

| Partnership | 2013 | — | Zichron Menachem (Israeli association for children with cancer and their families) Pantene Israel — the P&G haircare brand, operating through Procter & Gamble Israel — runs an annual national hair-donation campaign in Israel with the charity Zichron Menachem, branded "Tzama Shel Otzma" ("A Braid of Strength"). Donated hair of 30 cm or more is turned into real-hair wigs given free to women, girls and children undergoing cancer treatment. The partnership was reported as being in its 12th year in December 2023 and its 13th in December 2024; in the December 2024 campaign week 465 salons across Israel gave free haircuts to donors and passed the hair to Zichron Menachem, and P&G Israel CEO Roni Shaham was quoted saying "for us at Procter & Gamble, every hair donation is a meaningful step." Zichron Menachem's own site names Pantene as its wig-project partner. Israeli and Times of Israel reporting says P&G funds the campaign's advertising outright and, in January 2020, paid for a mobile haircutting van that toured seven locations; the charity says donations rose roughly sixfold under the partnership. | |
| Donation | 2018 | $100,000 | Zichron Menachem — local wig-manufacturing workshop in Israel P&G's Pantene brand donated $100,000 to create a local wig-manufacturing workshop in Israel, so that wigs for Israeli cancer patients are produced in the country from locally donated hair. The figure and the purpose are stated by Loic Tassel, President of P&G Europe, in a signed 2019 company post describing Pantene Israel's work with Zichron Menachem; in the same post he announced a further P&G grant-matching donation toward a mobile hair salon and hair clinic. This is a brand-level corporate grant, not a customer or employee collection. | |
| Donation | 2023-12 | — | Zichron Menachem — wig-manufacturing facility (Super-Pharm sales-linked donation) In the 12th year of the partnership — and the first campaign after the October 7, 2023 attack — Pantene ran a sales-linked donation in Israel: for every Pantene product sold in Super-Pharm stores between 13 December 2023 and 2 January 2024, five shekels went to Zichron Menachem's wig-manufacturing facility. Israeli reporting on the same campaign put cumulative Pantene giving to the workshop at close to NIS 1.5 million over about four years; that cumulative figure is a press estimate and no company-confirmed total was found, so no dollar amount is recorded here. The recipient is a children's-cancer charity, not a military, government or political body. | |
| Operations in Israel | 2026 | — | Israeli market — Procter & Gamble Israel M.D.O. Ltd. Pantene is marketed in Israel as a local brand by P&G's Israeli arm: it maintains a Hebrew-language "Pantene Israel" brand channel, its shampoos and conditioners are stocked chain-wide including at Super-Pharm, and P&G Israel's own CEO speaks for the brand in Israeli media. The owner of the brand, P&G, keeps the subsidiary P&G Israel M.D.O. Ltd., listed in its FY2025 10-K subsidiaries exhibit. Pantene products are imported; no Pantene manufacturing plant in Israel is documented. | |
