Background
PepsiCo is one of the brands named most often in Arabic-language boycott coverage since October 2023, and almost all of that coverage is about the campaigns rather than about anything PepsiCo did: Al Jazeera's survey of the damage, for instance, reports weaker sales at PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Starbucks, McDonald's and the franchisee Americana, and no act of support by any of them. The Lebanese row of June 2024 was over a redesigned bottle-cap logo that social-media posts said resembled the Israeli flag, and the denial it produced came from Société Moderne Libanaise pour le Commerce, the Pepsi bottling franchisee in Lebanon, not from PepsiCo: it called the accusation baseless and said it employs more than 1,000 Lebanese families.

| Donation | 2023-10-27 | $1,000,000 | Humanitarian organizations in Israel and Gaza The PepsiCo Foundation (the company's foundation, not the corporation directly) pledged $1 million to humanitarian organizations serving both Israel and Gaza, and implemented 2-to-1 employee donation matching. | |
| Acquisition | 2018-08-20 | $3,200,000,000 | SodaStream International Ltd. and its shareholders (Israel) A commercial acquisition, not a donation. PepsiCo announced on 20 August 2018 that it had agreed to buy the Israeli home-carbonation company SodaStream International Ltd. outright for $144.00 per share in cash, a transaction PepsiCo's own press release put at $3.2 billion, and it closed the purchase on 5 December 2018. SodaStream manufactures at the Idan HaNegev industrial park near Rahat in southern Israel; The Times of Israel put its workforce at about 3,500 people, more than 1,400 of them at that plant. On the day of the announcement the Hebrew daily Calcalist reported, citing a person close to the deal, that PepsiCo had undertaken to keep manufacturing in Israel for at least 15 years, and SodaStream CEO Daniel Birnbaum said publicly that the company's operations would stay in Israel and be expanded with a new plant in the Negev. PepsiCo's own two press releases make no commitment about Israel and say nothing about support for the country. | |
