Background
Tesco is a longstanding target of UK consumer-boycott campaigns over its stocking of Israeli fruit, vegetables, herbs and dates — routine retail sourcing that campaigners treat as support. The company's corporate position is that it does not source from Israeli settlements and follows UK government origin-labelling guidance, and it has repeatedly said it has no plans to stop sourcing from Israel. In November 2025 Tesco suspended a worker at its Newcastle, County Down (Northern Ireland) store who refused to handle Israeli goods; the BDS movement and trade unions ran a two-month protest campaign ('Descend on Tesco') across Ireland and Britain, and in January 2026 Tesco reinstated the worker in a role that does not involve handling Israeli products. Its documented corporate acts with Israel are commercial: the Trigo investment and technology partnership. No donations by Tesco to the Israeli state, army or Israel-linked charities were found.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Investment / program | 2019-10 | — | Trigo (Trigo Vision Ltd.), Tel Aviv-based checkout-technology startup Tesco PLC invested an undisclosed sum in Israeli computer-vision startup Trigo Vision after piloting its cashierless-checkout technology since mid-2019; then-CEO Dave Lewis said 'We've vetted the main players in the industry and Trigo is the best by a mile.' Tesco participated again as an existing investor in Trigo's $60 million Series B round led by 83North in December 2020. | |
| Partnership | 2021-10-19 | — | Trigo (technology partner for Tesco GetGo stores) Tesco opened its first public checkout-free 'GetGo' store on High Holborn in central London, powered by Israeli company Trigo's computer-vision system, after a trial at its Welwyn Garden City headquarters store; further Trigo-powered GetGo sites were planned. This is a continuing commercial technology partnership between Tesco and the Israeli startup it invested in. | |
| Operations in Israel | 2014-07 | — | Israeli produce suppliers (and, until September 2014, West Bank-packed dates) Tesco has long stocked own-brand fruit, vegetables, herbs and dates sourced from Israel, and until 2014 sold dates packed in the West Bank, labelled under UK guidance as settlement produce. In July 2014 Tesco announced it would remove West Bank-packed dates — its last West Bank-sourced product — by September 2014, saying the move was 'for commercial reasons' and not politically motivated, while stating it had 'no plans to change our position on sourcing from Israel.' Tesco continues to sell Israeli produce and now says it does not source products from Israeli settlements and follows all UK government origin-labelling guidance. |
