Infineon, the Munich chipmaker spun out of Siemens, has a real but largely historical Israeli record. It bought Israeli DSL chip designer Savan Communications in 2000 for a reported $120 million and ran it as Infineon Technologies Savan in Netanya, then closed that R&D operation in February 2007 and laid off its last 39 staff. It also ran a Netanya flash-memory joint venture with Israel's Saifun Semiconductors, and returned to the country indirectly in April 2020 when its purchase of Cypress Semiconductor brought Cypress's Israeli R&D team into the group. This research found no Infineon donations, humanitarian giving, solidarity statements or political contributions relating to Israel, and nothing tied to the war that began in October 2023. Reports of a new Infineon office opening in Israel in December 2023 circulated on social media but could not be corroborated by a published source, so they are not recorded as evidence here.
