Instagram is a brand of Meta Platforms, and no donation, investment, or statement of support for Israel by the Instagram brand itself has been documented — Meta's Israel-related actions (its October 2023 condemnation of Hamas, the Onavo acquisition, the Tel Aviv R&D center) all sit at the parent level and are covered on the Meta Platforms page; Meta itself has announced no corporate donations to Israel. Viral 'Instagram supports Israel' claims center on content moderation, not funding: Human Rights Watch documented in December 2023 what it called systemic over-moderation of peaceful pro-Palestinian content on Instagram and Facebook, and in October 2023 Meta apologized after Instagram's auto-translation briefly rendered bios containing 'Palestinian' and an Arabic phrase as 'Palestinian terrorists.'
