Sports Direct is the flagship sports-retail chain of Frasers Group plc, the British group founded by Mike Ashley in 1982 and renamed from Sports Direct International in 2019. No donation, humanitarian pledge, sponsorship, investment, contract or statement of support for Israel by Sports Direct or Frasers Group has been documented — and unlike most of its peers the chain has no Israeli retail presence to document either. The one Israeli lead in the record is an exploration that never became a store: in July 2022 Ynet reported that Harel Wizel, the Israeli distributor of Nike and chief executive of Retailors (the Fox-Wizel group), was examining bringing Sports Direct to Israel and converting his own underperforming Dream Sport chain into it. No franchise agreement, opening or Israeli Sports Direct store has been reported since, and the brand does not appear in Israeli mall directories. Frasers Group's announced international expansion of Sports Direct in 2025 was directed at Southeast Asia and India through the partner MAP Active, not the Israeli market. Sports Direct and Frasers Group do not appear on the BDS movement's official targeted-boycott list.
